Downtown Organizations Investing Together (D.O.I.T.) of Shippensburg, PA
Downtown Organizations Investing Together of Shippensburg is a community-based non-profit organization devoted to enhancing the appearance and economic vitality of the central business district of the Shippensburg area.
D.O.I.T. works to make the community of Shippensburg a safe and productive place to live, work, and play. To accomplish this goal, the Shippensburg downtown area must be maintained as a viable and vibrant place to shop, meet friends, and neighbors, and to be entertained.
Shippensburg Borough
Shippensburg is the oldest community of the Cumberland Valley, and the second oldest west of the Susquehanna River in Pennsylvania. In July, 1730, 12 Scotch-Irish families came to the site of the present day Shippensburg and built cabin homes along Burd’s Run. Shippensburg began as the western outpost of colonial settlement.

School District
The Shippensburg Area School District is nestled in the rolling hills of the Cumberland Valley among picturesque mountains and fertile valleys. This south-central Pennsylvania community offers a wealth of educational, family and entertainment opportunities to its residents and tourists. Rich in tradition and enhanced by a dedicated group of directors, staff and administration, the Shippensburg Area School District offers a diverse program of opportunities to the school and community populations.
