Downtown Organizations Investing Together of Shippensburg is a community-based non-profit organization devoted to enhancing the appearance and economic vitality of the central business district of the Shippensburg area.

D.O.I.T. works to make the community of Shippensburg a safe and productive place to live, work, and play.  To accomplish this goal, the Shippensburg downtown area must be maintained as a viable and vibrant place to shop, meet friends, and neighbors, and to be entertained.

Shippensburg Borough

Shippensburg is the oldest community of the Cumberland Valley, and the second oldest west of the Susquehanna River in Pennsylvania. In July, 1730, 12 Scotch-Irish families came to the site of the present day Shippensburg and built cabin homes along Burd’s Run. Shippensburg began as the western outpost of colonial settlement.
